    JOB TITLE: Director, Accounting (Homecare)

    START DATE: December 2018

    DURATION: Full Time, Permanent

    REPORTS TO: CFO and Vice President Finance & IT

    DEPARTMENT:  Finance

    LOCATION: Toronto Central LHIN




    Reporting to the CFO and Vice President Finance & IT, as a Director, Accounting (Homecare), the main responsibilities include overseeing and providing directions for general accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Payroll, Homecare Financial Analysis and Banking functions.



    • Ensures adequate levels of internal control are maintained
    • Develops and recommends effective accounting policies and procedures
    • Works with the Homecare, Contract Department and other cross functional teams to identify cost saving opportunities, develops initiatives, and leads the implementation of cost saving initiatives
    • Leads the budgeting process and performs financial assessment of Homecare and new business opportunities. Works closely with management to assist with the development of the annual budget to ensure accurate and timely submission of business plans
    • Proactively seeks saving opportunities and process improvements in Homecare to deliver required objectives including: cost-saving efficiencies, standardization, improved internal controls, service improvements and service delivery
    • Provides analysis of Homecare actual financial performance against budget & forecast, initiates changes when necessary in conjunction with the Homecare and Corporate Finance; provides analysis of different business initiatives and makes recommendations based on results
    • Mentors and coaches Homecare Finance staff, develops and fosters talent; utilizes a hands-on approach to resolve major issues and promotes team approach to problem solving
    • Identifies and monitors drivers for cost increases and implements approved initiatives to control the costs
    • Develops financial presentation materials for CFO, senior management and Finance and Audit committee
    • Meets internal and external deadlines to ensure timely financial reporting and other key metrics
    • Assists with the preparation of quarterly and year-end audit files and liaises with external financial auditors
    • Develops and implements department budget financial reports
    • Enhanced financial/business reporting, business case development, costing and pricing analysis
    • Special projects as assigned





    • Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting required and must have CPA Accounting designation



    • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of employees
    • 10 to 15 years of progressively responsible accounting and finance experience and at least seven years of management experience at the Director level
    • Proven success in change management and continuous improvement initiatives
    • Strong business acumen and financial modeling experience
    • Experience developing and using business analytic tools
    • Superior analytical and communication skills with the ability to lead structured meetings and deliver message to management
    • Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures
    • Advanced leadership skills driven by values that support the objectives of the organization
    • Experience managing accounting functions including but not limited to: Accounts payable, Payroll, Banking, and other accounting functions, Banking and payroll
    • Must have experience translating financial data into information that can inform managerial decision-making, and experience creating 3-year financial projections.
    • Healthcare work experience an asset
    • Working knowledge of the following dataset preferred but not required: Client Health and Related Information System (CHRIS)
    • Must be a detail oriented, analytical, proactive problem solver and creative thinker; with a continuous improvement mindset, and customer service focus to set and deliver personal and team results
    • Well-developed communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization;
    • Must be a highly self-motivated self-starter
    • Proven ability to work in a team environment with a collaborative work style
    • Strong in accuracy, consistency and efficiency, and will naturally focus on being careful and precise in dealing with data
    • Able to approach problem-solving in a logical and structured manner
    • Strong desire to follow through on tasks to completion with a high attention to detail
    • Able to prioritize and handle multiple initiatives and projects in a high pressure environment
    • Well-developed organizational, time management and decision making skills
    • Willing to take initiative
