  • Job Description

    Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Procurement & Facilities, the role of the Procurement Specialist includes but not limited to identifying competitive sources, prepare/issue procurement documents, review proponents’ lists, evaluate proposals, negotiate contract terms and award. The Procurement Specialist will manage sourcing all purchases and maintain effective systems to support procurement of various types of goods and services for the Central West LHIN.


    This role will work closely with the manager and internal stakeholders from various departments to develop procurement strategies, advise and manage procurement processes that ensure compliance with the Ontario Public Sector Procurement (OPS) Directives and internal policies; develop and maintain procurement databases/materials management system to manage purchases and agreements, liaise with other provincial and LHIN procurement groups, negotiate contracts and identify areas for cost savings and continually manage internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve goals.



    • Undergraduate degree in business/commerce or undergraduate degree with supporting courses in business/commerce; specialization or post graduate degree in supply chain management or procurement preferred
    • 3 -6 years in a strategic sourcing and supplier management role, specializing corporate sourcing/ procurement and OPS Procurement Directives
    • Knowledge of advanced procurement, purchasing concepts and quality management principles; of or certification in Procurement/Supply Chain Management; or Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) certification program or equivalent
    • Ability to work in a complex, fast-paced environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of management
    • Ability to proactively identify opportunities, make recommendations and quickly implement solutions
    • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, Teamwork, initiative/self-management and accountability and flexibility/adaptability
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    • Excellent problem solving and project delivery skills
    • Bilingualism (English/French) would be an asset.


    Mileage will be reimbursed as per the Travel, Meal and Hospitality Policy and will be based on the designated normal place of work as established by the Department Manager.   


    Please note the primary assigned location for mileage purposes is 199 County Court Blvd. in Brampton
