    Improvement Advisor



    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Quality and Project Management, this position is responsible for managing, developing, implementing and monitoring the spread of successful improvement initiatives at Central LHIN through engaging stakeholders (patients, staff, contract service providers, system partners) in achieving our strategic priorities.



    • Apply Quality Improvement methodology to all aspects of the Improvement Advisor role
    • Engage internal and external process owners in analyzing work processes and identifying opportunities for quality improvement
    • Provide recommendations for the type of quality improvement methodology to be applied in various projects, based on analysis of people, process, scope of required change and expected deliverables
    • Lead or advise on scoping, planning and preparation activity for quality improvement initiatives, including identification of required resources, data analysis and indicators
    • Provide exceptional facilitation skills for various improvement events while embedding quality improvement methodologies (LEAN, Six Sigma, Model for Improvement, etc)
    • Generate leadership reports and analyses of performance against established aims, standards and metrics, highlighting areas of concern
    • Create and utilize Shewharts (control charts) to analyze data and find common cause and special cause for improvement purposes
    • Provide training, education and mentoring to staff in quality improvement methodology and change management to build their capability and to ensure success
    • Apply project management principles where required to drive accountability and on-time implementation of quality improvement projects/initiatives
    • Participates and/or leads projects
    • Other duties as assigned


    • Four year undergraduate degree or equivalent in a relevant field (Engineering, Business)
    • 5 years’ experience in a healthcare environment or equivalent (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
    • Master’s degree in health care related field or equivalent preferred
    • Certification in a Quality Improvement methodology preferred
    • Certification in Change Management preferred
    • Successful track record in facilitating large improvement events while utilizing quality improvement methodology
    • Proficient in the use of Word, PowerPoint, Statistical Software and above average proficiency in Excel
    • Data analysis experience with knowledge of how to utilize Shewhart charts for improvement
    • Experience in coaching and/or teaching quality methods
    • Highly developed analytical, problem solving, decision-making and critical thinking skills
    • Knowledge of the healthcare system and direct care/service delivery models used in community agencies
    • Good knowledge of the Hospital and LHIN’s sectors
    • Ability to work independently and to take initiative
    • Excellent communications skills to work with a wide range of professionals
    • Proven ability to manage projects involving stakeholders from diverse areas and organizations
    • Ability to influence groups in establishing quality performance objectives and utilization of quality improvement methodologies
    • Good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
    • Exceptional presentation skills to provide information to executives, managers and staff at all levels
    • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle as travel is required to other office sites of Central LHIN
    • Ability to attend work on a regular basis



    This position is located at the Central LHIN headquarters in Markham, Ontario. There may be requirement for occasional travel to other sites across the Central LHIN.
