  • Job Description

    Reporting to the Manager, Decision Support, the Epidemiologist will be engaged in the implementation and evaluation of integration initiatives in collaboration with various members of Corporate Services, Accountability and Quality team and other stakeholders to support the achievement of LHIN goals, objectives and integration strategies through performance and accountability, quality and decision support.

    The successful candidate will have expertise in, and contribute to, the identification of health system service gaps and health system priorities through the analysis of local, regional and provincial data to help understand and explore root causes. The epidemiologist supports the management, monitoring and evaluation of health system performance and will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure access to timely, evidence based research to inform decision making and the development of initiatives. Stakeholder engagement will be required to identify opportunities for continuous improvements through the evaluation of provincial and local trends to improve health outcomes and health system performance.



    • Bachelor or Master’s degree in health administration, health planning, epidemiology, biostatistics or relevant field. Master’s degree preferred.
    • Knowledge of the Ontario health system and of the Central West LHIN within the context of the larger health system.
    • Strong communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills as well as evidence of the ability to promote and maintain interpersonal relationships and strategic partnerships.
    • Strong skills in community stakeholder engagement and effective collaboration with internal and external partners.
    • Excellent spoken and written communication skills including the ability to express complex ideas clearly and effectively to a non-technical audience.
    • The ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
    • Evidence of experience in the successful development, implementation and monitoring of operational, performance/accountability and quality improvement initiatives.
    • Solid knowledge of performance metrics, quality improvement, analysis and reporting.
    • Evidence of experience and success with data and statistical analysis, statistical quality control methods, research design and estimation and modelling methods.
    • Experience using statistical, data management, extraction and reporting tools and software.
    • Understanding of population health status and health service datasets and information sources (e.g. Provincial Health Planning Database, CIHI, IntelliHealth, etc.).
    • Ability to deal with multiple complex issues and manage multiple priorities
    • Self-directed and strong collaborative skills
    • Experience in coaching, mentoring and developing others in process improvement and data analysis
    • Project management experience/ skills
    • Superior critical thinking skills and ability to generate ideas and fresh perspectives
    • Possess excellent presentation and written/oral communication skills and have the ability to engage a knowledgeable audience
    • Demonstrates commitment to the Central West LHIN’s mission and values.
    • Fluency in French is an asset.
