The Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN), is one of 14 local organizations that have been created in Ontario to plan, coordinate and fund local health services, including hospitals, community care,, long-term care homes, community support service agencies, and mental health and addictions agencies. We are currently recruiting a Primary Care Advisor

Position Outline:

Reporting to the Director, Physician Engagement, Clinical Integration & Relationship Management, the Primary Care Advisor (PCA) is responsible for the engagement of Primary Care providers within Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). Key duties of the PCA will be foundational to enable the achievement of successful Primary Care Integration (PCI) across Mississauga Halton LHIN. The PCA will be assigned a catchment area that aligns with the Mississauga Halton sub region geographies and will communicate and promote programs, services, resources, and opportunities to Primary Care providers in accordance with the Mississauga Halton LHIN PCI Strategy. They will enable physicians to optimize resources and opportunities available to them to provide exceptional care, ultimately impacting system outcomes. The PCA will also support health service providers across the health care system in developing effective strategies for informing and engaging physicians about their services.

Key accountabilities include: 

  • Developing and executing work plans to effectively engage with Primary Care physicians to achieve strategic goals and objectives through enhanced integration in alignment with the Mississauga Halton LHIN Primary Care Integration strategy
  • Collaborating and consulting with various stakeholders to plan and execute engagement strategies, including the development of relevant communication materials and delivery
  • Developing and executing plans to address individual physician needs.
  • Organizing educational events and developing and maintaining physician resources.
  • Developing and maintaining physician profiles through database management.
  • Identifying system and organizational issues or business intelligence that would help inform strategy development for successful delivery of primary care integration at a system level.

Qualifications include:

  • University degree or diploma required; Communications, Public Affairs/Public Relations, or Business background preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of recent related experience in the health sector with Sales, Communications, or Business lens is an asset.
  • Experience working with physicians is an asset.
  • Adept in the use of MS Office applications.
  • Strong customer focus with an ability to be responsive to meet the needs of both physicians and health service providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, creative, adaptable and flexible in an emerging role.
  • Detail and quality oriented and self-directed with an ability to organize, plan, prioritize and multi-task.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to analyze information, problem-solve and make good decisions.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
